In Chinese swordsmanship, a distinction is traditionally made between two main types of straight blades: the Wen Jian (scholar's sword) and the Wu Jian (war sword). The Wen Jian is light, handy and was usually carried for self-defence. The Wu Jian, on the other hand, is longer and heavier and was used by warriors as a powerful weapon on the battlefield.

The hand-forged blade of the Cold Steel® Gim Sword is made of robust 1060 carbon steel and has been expertly heat-treated to achieve optimum hardness and flexibility. With its two sharp cutting edges and sturdy point, the blade is ideal for cutting and thrusting techniques.
The elegant wooden handle is fitted with a robust guard and pommel made of solid brass, which are traditionally designed and carefully crafted. The beautiful wooden scabbard with brass fittings (mouth plate, strap and carrying rings) can be worn on the belt or over the shoulder.
