Axe Gang hatchet

Product information "Axe Gang hatchet"

Axe Gang® axe - The legendary axe from martial arts films

Cold Steel® is known worldwide for its passion for martial arts and its close connection to the film industry. Many of the company's employees are trained in various martial arts disciplines, and some even work as stuntmen, weapons specialists or fight choreographers in Hollywood. This enthusiasm has resulted in an impressive homage to one of the most famous weapons from kung fu films: the Axe Gang® hatchet.

This classic Chinese axe has been used in countless martial arts films over the decades and has earned a legendary reputation. Inspired by these iconic film weapons, Cold Steel® has created a modern interpretation with the Axe Gang® Hatchet, which is not only visually appealing but also impresses as a high-quality functional weapon.

Robust construction & high-quality materials

The Axe Gang® Hatchet is far more than a mere film prop - it is a fully functional axe that is perfect for practical use, as a collector's item or for historical re-enactments. The drop-forged axe head is made from 1055 carbon steel, which is characterised by high hardness, excellent cutting performance and outstanding impact resistance. Thanks to differential hardening, the cutting edge has a razor-sharp edge, while the rest of the axe head is designed to effectively absorb blows and impacts.

The handle is made from hand-selected American hickory, one of the best hardwoods for axe and hammer handles. This wood is not only particularly resistant, but also offers an excellent grip for precise blows and throws. A unique engraving in Kanji characters gives the axe an authentic look and sets it apart from conventional axes.

Versatile application possibilities

Whether as a collector's item, for martial arts choreography, as a wooden tool or for historical re-enactment - the Axe Gang® axe combines tradition, functionality and style. It is suitable for lovers of Asian weapons as well as HEMA martial artists or outdoor enthusiasts looking for a powerful and manoeuvrable axe.

Why 1055 carbon steel?

1055 carbon steel is known for its high impact resistance and toughness. It contains a balanced carbon content, which distinguishes it from more brittle steels and ensures a long service life. Thanks to its robustness, this steel is often used for large fixed knives, machetes and swords - and of course for first-class axes and hatchets such as the Axe Gang® Hatchet.

Leider waren für meine kleinen Hände der Griff etwas zu dick, aber mein Mann hat dafür ne Menge Spaß im Garten beim Holz hacken. Wäre es für meine Hände optimal gewesen würde es 5 statt 4 Sterne geben.

War hammer - a powerful weapon against plate armour In the late 13th century, the sword was the dominant weapon of knights and men-at-arms. However, with the advent of plate armour, the sword increasingly lost its penetrating power as it was not suitable for penetrating this new type of protective clothing. This is where the warhammer came into play - a weapon specially developed for fighting heavily armoured opponents. The warhammer was an extremely effective response to the plate armour of the time. With its heavy hammer head, it could massively dent armour and helmets and break even the strongest armour in just a few blows. The striking spike, which was attached to many war hammers, acted like a modern can opener to open the armour and injure the opponent. During battle, the hammer head was primarily used to throw the opponent to the ground and incapacitate him. Once the enemy was down, the hammer was turned round and the spike was used to penetrate the helmet and defeat the opponent with a decisive blow. The modern war hammer from Cold Steel® is a precise replica of this historical tool and is already very popular with HEMA martial artists and re-enactors. Particularly noteworthy is the manoeuvrability of this weapon, which can be wielded excellently with one or both hands. The hammer head is drop-forged from high-quality 1055 carbon steel and differentially hardened. This means that the tip of the hammer spike and the striking surface of the hammer are completely hardened in order to strike through particularly resistant materials, while the rest of the head is softer in order to better absorb the forces that occur when striking. The straight-fibre American hickory handle ensures excellent balance and durability. In addition, the approx. 76.2 cm long handle is equipped with two robust steel shaft springs that provide additional support. Details of the Cold Steel® war hammer: Hammer head material: 1055 carbon steel, drop-forged and differentially hardened Handle material: Straight-fibre hickory wood, reinforced with steel shaft springs Overall length: approx. 76.2 cm Head width: approx. 18.7 cm Striking surface of the hammer: approx. 3.8 cm x 3.8 cm Weight: approx. 1000 g Item number Cold Steel®: 90WHA The war hammer is not only ideal for historical re-enactments and combat training, but also as a collector's item for weapon enthusiasts and historians. This replica is perfect for anyone who wants to experience and authentically recreate the weaponry culture of the Middle Ages. Additional information: The war hammer is a product with sharp edges. Improper or careless use can lead to injuries. Please always handle this weapon with care and caution. Important note on sale: This item is only sold to persons over the age of 18. Please state your date of birth when ordering and send us a copy of a valid ID document (e.g. identity card or driving licence) by e-mail, scan, fax or post.

italienisches-langschwert
Italian long sword with scabbard

Italian longsword with scabbard - Sharp blade for precise blows The longsword was one of the most important weapons in medieval Europe for several centuries. From around 1350 to 1650, it proved its worth both on the battlefield and in the art of fencing. Its long, double-edged blade not only offered an impressive reach, but also the necessary leverage for powerful blows and precise thrusts. The characteristic cross shape of the hilt with its long crossguard and heavy pommel not only served to protect the hand, but could also be used strategically to disarm opponents or throw them off balance. A special technique was used against heavily armoured opponents in particular: the half-sword. This involved gripping the blade with one hand in order to guide the tip through weak points in the armour. This versatility made the longsword an indispensable weapon in the martial arts of its time. This Italian longsword is modelled on historical examples and impresses with its elegant and functional design. The sharp blade is primarily optimised for thrusts, but the cutting edges are also extremely effective. The handle is made of wood and wrapped in leather, while the crossguard is slightly curved downwards to provide additional protection. The fishtail pommel ensures optimum balance and enables precise manoeuvres. The sword is supplied with a high-quality, leather-covered wooden scabbard reinforced with steel fittings. italienisches-langschwert

Features: Blade material: 1060 carbon steel Total length: approx. 119.4 cm Handle length: approx. 29.2 cm Blade length: approx. 90.2 cm Weight: approx. 1273 g Includes leather-covered wooden sheath with steel fittings Note: This item is only for sale to persons of legal age. Proof of age is required. Safety instructions: This sword has a sharp blade. Improper or careless handling can lead to injuries.

Viking sword

Historical Viking sword of the 9th and 10th centuries The Viking sword of the 9th and 10th centuries was characterised by a long, broad blade with a central fuller and two edges. A simple, forward-curved crossguard was often combined with a handy handle made of leather-covered wood. In some cases, materials such as bone or brass were also used. A solid pommel with five ridges was used to balance the long blade. This replica has a hand-forged, double-edged blade made of carbon steel, which has been polished by hand and sharpened to perfection. The handle is made of wood with leather wrapping and is framed by a simple but elegant crossguard and a pommel with five ridges. Both are decorated with traditional knot patterns. The knife comes with a leather-covered wooden scabbard with a polished steel chape. Italian long sword with scabbard - Man-at-Arms series

Italian longsword - Man at Arms with leather sheath The Italian longsword from the Man at Arms (MAA) series by Cold Steel® is an impressive reconstruction of a classic medieval sword that is equally suitable for combat and historical collection. It carries on the tradition of the valiant "Man-at-Arms" - warriors who proved themselves in countless battles, but without the status of knights. These soldiers were known for their unwavering loyalty and courage, and Cold Steel® honours these warriors with this sword collection that is both high quality and affordable. Compared to Cold Steel®'s premium versions, the MAA longsword features a blued blade and black handles for a functional yet aesthetically pleasing look. Although the MAA blades have no silver-polished steel parts, they fulfil the highest standards of performance and quality. These blades are fully sharpened and battle-ready, with a robust yet elegant design that reflects the sharpness and functionality of a true longsword. The longsword from the MAA series has a long tradition and was the favoured sword in medieval Europe for almost 300 years (approx. 1350 to 1650). The double-edged blade is ideal for use against both light and heavy armour. Particularly noteworthy is the reach of the blade, which enables powerful thrusts and cuts, while the long crossguard and heavy pommel act as striking weapons and can throw the opponent off balance. The half-sword technique, in which the swordsman grasps the blade with one hand, makes it possible to stab precisely into gaps in the armour. The MAA Italian longsword was modelled on classic Italian designs, with the emphasis on thrusting attacks. Nevertheless, the cutting edges are surprisingly effective and make the sword a versatile weapon for swordplay. The simple yet functional crossguard and the balanced fishtail pommel round off the design perfectly. Included is a high-quality leather sheath with blued steel fittings, which keeps the sword safe and stylish at the same time. Details: Blade material: 1090 carbon steel, blued Total length: approx. 119.4 cm Handle length: approx. 29.2 cm Blade length: approx. 90.2 cm Blade thickness: approx. 6.35 mm Weight: approx. 1389 g Incl. leather sheath with blued steel fittings Cold Steel® item number: 88ITSM This sword is ideal for historical fencing techniques and as a collector's sword.
