Light Cavalry Saber of 1796 – Historical Elegance Meets Modern Quality
The Light Cavalry Saber of 1796 by Cold Steel® is based on the famous blades wielded by British and Prussian troops in the Battle of Waterloo. Some experts speculate that its distinctive blade design was inspired by the Indian Talwar. Due to its impressive performance and versatility, this saber was even used by the German cavalry well into the early 20th century.
However, this saber is much more than just a historical replica—it is a fully functional sword of outstanding quality. The blade is crafted from high-quality 1055 carbon steel and is so robust that it can withstand the demanding British Proof Test for durability and resilience.
With its fully sharpened edge, this saber is not only an impressive collector’s piece but also suitable for practical use. Additionally, you can choose between two different scabbard options: a traditional full-metal version or an elegant wooden variant with a leather cover and steel fittings.
Its combination of classic aesthetics and modern manufacturing quality makes the Light Cavalry Saber of 1796 the perfect choice for collectors, historians, and enthusiasts of military edged weapons.

Italian longsword with scabbard - Sharp blade for precise blows The longsword was one of the most important weapons in medieval Europe for several centuries. From around 1350 to 1650, it proved its worth both on the battlefield and in the art of fencing. Its long, double-edged blade not only offered an impressive reach, but also the necessary leverage for powerful blows and precise thrusts. The characteristic cross shape of the hilt with its long crossguard and heavy pommel not only served to protect the hand, but could also be used strategically to disarm opponents or throw them off balance. A special technique was used against heavily armoured opponents in particular: the half-sword. This involved gripping the blade with one hand in order to guide the tip through weak points in the armour. This versatility made the longsword an indispensable weapon in the martial arts of its time. This Italian longsword is modelled on historical examples and impresses with its elegant and functional design. The sharp blade is primarily optimised for thrusts, but the cutting edges are also extremely effective. The handle is made of wood and wrapped in leather, while the crossguard is slightly curved downwards to provide additional protection. The fishtail pommel ensures optimum balance and enables precise manoeuvres. The sword is supplied with a high-quality, leather-covered wooden scabbard reinforced with steel fittings. Features: Blade material: 1060 carbon steel Total length: approx. 119.4 cm Handle length: approx. 29.2 cm Blade length: approx. 90.2 cm Weight: approx. 1273 g Includes leather-covered wooden sheath with steel fittings Note: This item is only for sale to persons of legal age.
