War hammer - a powerful weapon against plate armour In the late 13th century, the sword was the dominant weapon of knights and men-at-arms. However, with the advent of plate armour, the sword increasingly lost its penetrating power as it was not suitable for penetrating this new type of protective clothing. This is where the warhammer came into play - a weapon specially developed for fighting heavily armoured opponents. The warhammer was an extremely effective response to the plate armour of the time. With its heavy hammer head, it could massively dent armour and helmets and break even the strongest armour in just a few blows. The striking spike, which was attached to many war hammers, acted like a modern can opener to open the armour and injure the opponent. During battle, the hammer head was primarily used to throw the opponent to the ground and incapacitate him. Once the enemy was down, the hammer was turned round and the spike was used to penetrate the helmet and defeat the opponent with a decisive blow. The modern war hammer from Cold Steel® is a precise replica of this historical tool and is already very popular with HEMA martial artists and re-enactors. Particularly noteworthy is the manoeuvrability of this weapon, which can be wielded excellently with one or both hands. The hammer head is drop-forged from high-quality 1055 carbon steel and differentially hardened. This means that the tip of the hammer spike and the striking surface of the hammer are completely hardened in order to strike through particularly resistant materials, while the rest of the head is softer in order to better absorb the forces that occur when striking. The straight-fibre American hickory handle ensures excellent balance and durability. In addition, the approx. 76.2 cm long handle is equipped with two robust steel shaft springs that provide additional support. Details of the Cold Steel® war hammer: Hammer head material: 1055 carbon steel, drop-forged and differentially hardened Handle material: Straight-fibre hickory wood, reinforced with steel shaft springs Overall length: approx. 76.2 cm Head width: approx. 18.7 cm Striking surface of the hammer: approx. 3.8 cm x 3.8 cm Weight: approx. 1000 g Item number Cold Steel®: 90WHA The war hammer is not only ideal for historical re-enactments and combat training, but also as a collector's item for weapon enthusiasts and historians. This replica is perfect for anyone who wants to experience and authentically recreate the weaponry culture of the Middle Ages. Additional information: The war hammer is a product with sharp edges. Improper or careless use can lead to injuries. Please always handle this weapon with care and caution. Important note on sale: This item is only sold to persons over the age of 18. Please state your date of birth when ordering and send us a copy of a valid ID document (e.g. identity card or driving licence) by e-mail, scan, fax or post.

A training sword such as the Wakizashi Bokken from Cold Steel® offers you exactly that: it imitates the length, weight and handling of a real wakizashi without the high risk of injury of sharp blades. Made from virtually unbreakable polypropylene, it is ideal for realistic sparring, technical units, fitness training or kata exercises. Inspired by the Japanese samurai tradition, this training sword was developed as a modern alternative to the classic wooden bokken. Authentic models made from white oak are expensive, prone to breakage and not weather-resistant - the Wakizashi Bokken offers a durable, resistant solution. The blade is based on the shape of the legendary Cold Steel® Warrior series swords. It has no sharp edges or points, but is robust enough for intensive training. The handle is modelled on the traditional cord wrap and offers a secure grip - even when wearing gloves. Suburito, training weapon

Suburito, training weapon
Suburito - Training weapon made of polypropylene (Cold Steel®) Solid training sword for technique and strength training The Suburito is a traditional Japanese training weapon developed to improve cutting technique, posture and strength endurance. Unlike a normal bokken, it is heavier, thicker and primarily designed for individual training and swinging exercises. The simulated effort involved in handling this weapon makes it a respectful tool on the way to becoming a better swordsman. The Cold Steel® Suburito was modelled on a handmade wooden original from the collection of Andrew Demko (5th Dan Aikido), with whom Lynn C. Thompson - President of Cold Steel - also trained personally. The realisation: a more modern version made of indestructible material had to be created. The result is a training sword made from high-quality polypropylene with a long handle and square tip - absolutely unbreakable, weather-resistant and suitable for years of intensive training. It does not splinter, does not rot and retains its shape - even under heavy use. The Suburito is visually impressive with its authentic wooden design and engraved Kanji characters, which symbolise the five basic principles of sword fighting: Circular Motion Blade Angle (blade angle) Cutting Trajectory Distancing (distance to the opponent) Wringing the Tea Cloth (tension in the cut) This training sword is ideal for anyone who wants to perfect their technique and strength with a massive, realistic training weapon. Highlights: Made according to a historical model Extremely robust and durable Perfect for cutting exercises and individual training With traditional kanji engravings No splintering, no tearing - unlike wood Details: Material: High-quality polypropylene Total length: approx. 114.3 cm Thickness: approx. 2.5 cm Weight: approx. 1108 g Cold Steel® article number: 92BKM

O Tanto Bokken, training sword with optimised grip
O Tanto Bokken - polypropylene training sword (2015 version with optimised handle design) The O Tanto Bokken from Cold Steel is the ideal choice for realistic sword fighting training without the risk of injury. This revised version from 2015 impresses with a handle in a traditional cord wrap look, which is not only visually appealing but also ensures excellent control - even when wearing gloves. Tradition meets modernity Centuries ago, the best swordsmen in the world already knew that anyone who wanted to excel with a blade had to internalise footwork, basic stances and technique with rigorous discipline. But to become a true master, this alone is not enough - intensive training with a weapon that comes as close as possible to the original in terms of size, weight and balance is required. This is where the O Tanto Bokken comes into play - a safe training sword that comes very close to the feel of a real sword thanks to its robust construction, without the risk of serious injury. Inspired by history Even the Roman gladiators trained with blunt wooden swords. The Japanese samurai have always relied on the so-called bokken, a training sword made of hardwood (often white oak / kashi), to perfect their skills. But wood has its weaknesses: It can crack, splinter or become unusable due to weathering - and high-quality, genuine bokken are also often expensive. The Cold Steel solution: indestructible polypropylene Cold Steel has created a modern, durable alternative: Training weapons made from particularly high-quality polypropylene. These models impress with their extreme durability, long service life and realistic handling - with maximum safety during training. Break-resistant Cut-resistant Weatherproof Virtually indestructible The O Tanto Bokken is ideal for sparring, partner exercises, fitness training and use on the Makiwara or Palus. It is ideal for beginners, advanced and professionals who want to perfect their technique with a realistic-looking but safe training sword. Detailed design & high-quality workmanship The design of the O Tanto Bokken is based on the legendary swords of the Cold Steel Warrior series. The flowing lines of the wide blade and the handle design in traditional style make this training sword not only functional, but also a visual highlight.
